This month the Port opens its doors to our French friends, when two training naval vessels called to Galway. The French navy are no strangers here and it is always with enthusiasm that we welcome the ships here.
French Consulate Catherine Gagneux said “It’s wonderful to have a piece of France on our doorstep in Galway. There are so many ties between Galway and France, the twinning with Lorient being the obvious one but we are linked in many other ways. I hope we can grow on this call and welcome more French ships to Galway.”
The vessels remained in Galway over the weekend, their captains making calls of protocol to the Port, City Hall and Dun Ui Mhaoiliosa.
